The Speedmaster is one of OMEGA's most iconic timepieces, having participated in all six lunar missions. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 of 1969, OMEGA launches the limited edition Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Anniversary Limited Series model of 6969 units.
The timepiece features a 42 mm stainless steel case with a 18K Moonshine ™ gold bezel with a polished finish. The bezel ring is in glossy black ceramic [ZrO2] with tachymetric scale in OMEGA Ceragold ™. The gray and black painted surface has dials and hands in Moonshine ™ 18K gold. The only exception is the central chronograph seconds hand, made of Moonshine ™ gold with PVD coating. At 11 o'clock the only indication of hours stands out, while at 9 o'clock there is the exclusive Moonshine ™ 18K gold counter with laser engraving depicting Buzz Aldrin as he lands on the lunar surface.
The caseback with NAIAD LOCK system is decorated with numerous engravings, while the astronaut's laser engraved imprint is placed on a medallion below the sapphire crystal. Among the Moonshine ™ 18K gold-plated inscriptions, the quotes: "THAT'S ONE SMALL STEP FOR A MAN" and "ONE GIANT LEAP FOR MANKIND."
The watch comes with a polished and brushed metal bracelet and an extra Velcro strap with black cork lining. It is animated by the OMEGA Master Chronometer caliber 3861.
